It would be a mistake to leave Uig off your itinerary while visiting Skye, or ignore what the village has to offer as you dash for the ferry to the Outer Hebrides! Situated on the seawall by Uig Bay, Uig Pottery, run by Alan and Margaret Freestone is a must-see. Inspired by the tremendous views of the sea, the hills, the changing sky and the local wildlife, the couple produce a unique but beautiful range of pottery products.
Between May and September, why not get involved in the “Uig Pottery Experience”, where you can try pottery throwing by yourself and create wonderful items for friends and family or just yourself? There is an additional retail outlet in Portree, “Crocks & Rocks”, but nothing beats a visit to the pottery itself nor the chance to throw yourself into some creative clay-working.
