How can one sum up these majestic hills? The jagged peaks of Cuillin ridge tower over the centre of the island and seem almost out of place with their long row of rocky spikes. They are frequently compared to Alpine territory and offer a challenge to anyone who likes hillwalking, scrambling or climbing. Walking the whole length of the ridge has become an increasingly popular if strenuous adventure. If you don’t quite feel up to heading for the summits, it is equally rewarding to just walk along the bottom of the hills or sit and watch them change with the light in the sky.
