Scotland’s biggest export, alongside oil, is whisky. Talisker Distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery based in Carbost, and is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye, making it one of the top visitor attractions on the island.
Part of the visitor attraction is a step by step tour around the Distillery to show how the whisky is made. You have all of your senses indulged, hear the steam in the mash tun, touching the grist, looking into the authentic oak barrels called washbacks and see malted barley. You get to smell the whisky as it’s fermenting and then finally you get to taste the famous Talisker Whisky, unique for its peaty, peppery aftertaste.
The Distillery is open all year round.
