The smallest of the three northern peninsulas, Waternish is the most distinctive among them. Meaning “watery point”, and separated from the Duirinish peninsula by Loch Dunvegan and from Trotternish by Loch Snizort, it is a place of imposing cliffs, rocky headlands, magnificent views out to the Outer Hebrides and now world-famous sunsets.
Originally a crofting community, today a number of arts and crafts enterprises have been established there including the renowned SkyeSkyns and Waternish also hosts the oldest pub on Skye, the Stein Inn, as well as the famous, Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant.
